Exploring

Exploring garden centers and nurseries is one of my all-time favorite things to do when traveling. Going to Atlanta this past weekend for the NCAA Final Four was no exception. We stayed with my niece and husband in Cumming, GA. My niece’s husband graciously escorted me to three of their local nurseries including Walkoola Water GardenNursery with lots of beautiful fountains, waterfalls, outdoor furniture, plants, fish and garden decor. I also experienced Pike Garden Center for the first time. It is the “big box” store for gardening. It was very large and full of healthy plants.
Traveling home through Chattanooga, we stopped at The Barn Nursery. I had seen it from I-24 on other trips but not when we had the time to stop. And let me tell you, one does need time! Wow!

It is fantastic! One of the top nursery/garden centers in the south, it is family owned and operated and covers acres. You have to see it to believe it. They graciously let me take photos to share with you.

In addition to the nursery, there is an adjoining pottery outlet.

Some other jewels I have discovered are Petals from the Past in Jemison, Alabama and Plantscape in
Herrin, IL. Closer to home, I like visiting Beans and Blossoms, an organic nursery east of Murray, KY.

Do you have some favorite nurseries or garden centers? If you do, I would like to know about them, please make a note in the comment section.
